England down India by 196 runs

The English bowlers took a little over two sessions to remove nine remaining Indian batsmen and score a win in the opening Test at the Lord's, on Monday.

James Anderson came to the fore and wrecked the Indian batting with his five-wicket spell. He was responsible for removing Rahul Dravid and returned to get rid of VVS Laxman, who scored a half-century. In stepped Sachin Tendulkar but managed all of 12 before he too, surrendered to Anderson.

Stuart Broad kept the pressure up from the other end and apart from Suresh Raina who resisted the bowling and managed 78 against his name, none of the Indian batsman could last. The visitors folded on 261, handing the match over by a margin of 196.
