England-India series leads to a huge rush for tickets

Anticipation of England being crowned the world number one team at the end of the four-Test series has led to a huge rush for tickets.

England had a resounding 196-run victory over India in the first Test at Lord's, where the crowds filled the stands on all five days to watch the 2000th Test of the game's history and the 100th between the two nations.


There is a heavy rush for tickets for the second Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, and the third at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Tickets for the first three days of the final Test at The Oval have virtually been sold out.


"There are only handful of tickets priced 40 pounds sterling available for the first day of the Nottingham Test, Friday, only two 60 pounds tickets for the second and the 30 pounds and 40 pound for the fourth and fifth day," reports The Guradian, quoting a ticket salesman.


For the Edgbaston Test, which starts Aug 10, fourth day (Saturday) is sold out, Friday is "nearly sold out", and on the opening day and Thursday only limited tickets are left.
Visitors to The Oval's website currently have to wait around 10 minutes for the ticketing page to load before discovering seat availability for the Test, starting August 18.
