Legand's Profile : Kapil Dev

This former Indian Cricket Team Captain is known by Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikanj and was born on 6th January, 1959, Chandigarh. He was born in a Punjabi family of a mother Raj Kumari Lajwanti and father Ram Lal Nikhanj. After separation the family shifted to Chandigarh where they settled into an affluent building and his father set a timber business. He completed his studies at D.A.V. School and combined to Desh Prem Azad in year 1971. Kapil Dev directed Indian cricket team as a Captain in 1983 Cricket World Cup, in which the country procures their success. He was also named as Indian Cricketer of the Century by Wisden in year 2002. He too stretches as India's national cricket coach for almost the duration of 10 months between October 1999 and August 2000. This right hand pace bowler was a tremendous all-rounder and served as India’s strike bowler. 

He made his international debut in Test Cricket matches in Faisalabad, Punjab on 16th October, 1978, however, his performance was unimpressive. Kapil confirm his superior talent during 3rd Test matches in which he ranked India’s fastest Test half century off 33 balls at National Stadium in Karachi, although India got defeated with 2-0 in series. He admitted his presence in the World Cup with a regular individual record of 32 Matches, 608 Runs and 34 wickets. He also accomplished the all-rounder double of 4,000 Test runs and 400 Test wickets. As per the ICC Cricket ratings presented for all rounder in ODI cricket, Kapil acquires the highest peak rating 631 which is the maximum rating ever achieved. He achieved this score on 22 March 1985, after his participation in final World Series match played against Pakistan in Australia.
