Maninder Singh wants Harbhajan to attack more

Harbhajan Singh took only one wicket in the opening test against England at Lord’s and gave away more than 200 runs. Many former Indian cricketers have criticized Harbhajan’s lackluster performance in the first test.

Former India Test spinner, Maninder Singh was quoted in Times of India as saying, "Taking more than 400 Test wickets is not a joke. He is going to play for sure. But bowling well in Trent Bridge will be a challenge for him. I hope he feels the pressure. And I hope that he attacks more."

Maninder also found it surprising that Harbhajan was bowling without a fielder at silly point for most of the innings."He doesn't seem keen to have a fielder in that position. As a captain, MS Dhoni must insist that he bowls with a silly point. Otherwise he is not going to be effective on a good batting track," said Maninder.

"Surprisingly, on most occasions I would get a wicket." He also reminisced how master class batsmen such as Gordon Greenidge and Vivian Richards would always try to get rid of the close-in fielder.
