Modern Orthopaedic therapy introduced in Indian cricket


Orthopaedic manual therapy is one of the advanced therapies used in world of sports to Injuries have become part and parcel of the modern day sports. Countries like Australia, England and South Africa have already used this therapy with positive effect in cricket, and now Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) has taken the steps to introduce it in Indian cricket. 

Vidarbha Cricket Association’s physiotherapist Dr Ashish Agrawal has completed a course in Advanced Orthopaedic Manual therapy from the Cutin University Perth, Australia and is set to help the regional cricketers who can benefit from it. He was quoted in Times of India as saying, "The course will help me in the rehabilitation process. The players will now recover faster. More than me, it's the players who will get benefitted from this course. I am ready to help out any player of the region and not only the cricketers," Agrawal said. Agrawal added that manual therapy is a must in modern day sports considering the importance given to fitness these days. "It's very effectively. It's must to have knowledge of manual therapy these days. I am thankful to VCA, which supported me a lot. I don't think any cricket association in the country has ever sent its physio for the advanced course like this," he said. Agrawal said he is ready to help not only cricketers but any one from other sports. Agrawal is considered to be one of the finest physiotherapist in the country and will be the first one to be acquainted with this science.Considering the impact injuries have had on Indian cricketers recently, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should think of using this science to aid senior cricketers in the national team.
